At least I'm doing it in style, driving a Cayman S.

Wish I was driving my Cobra, but a mod went bad, and I got the parts delivered right as I left for vacation.

Picture dump to come tomorrow night from the '13 Sturgis Mustang Rally.

Night oppo.

Ah, okay. For a second I was worried that the stereotype held!

Tell me about the Cobra. Is 1980 when they had the 255, or does it still have a 302? What mods have you done?

1980, Original 2.3T car, Previous owner did 302/T5 swap. fully restored with my father from beginning of freshman year, to my 16th birthday last june. Did the 5-lug upgrade, but missed the master cylinder. '93 cobra MC and swap parts came to late before I left for Sturgis last thursday. Pics tomorrow of how it sits right now.

How it looks (minus wheels/lowered suspension):

I can barely sleep for it, I'll be taking the bus there, I'm about 20 days from legal driving, and my current wish for a car is a 240. But hey, I've got something decent to wear at least.

You just hit all of the right buttons. How much did it cost you to build? That car is so clean you could eat off of it. Do you pay for the parts yourself, or does your father?

You're really lucky to have a car to build in high school. The best I could afford (after my $200 1990 Nissan Maxima died) was a 98 Mustang V6. After tearing out everything I could to keep weight down without removing the interior (I would never fill the tank higher than 1/2 full) I could make that thing carve corners better than my friend's civic. But I had to work my ass off to pay for the car, and deep down, it wasn't worth it. I couldn't build it (or drop a new motor in) myself or pay to have a shop do it, and even if I did, the amount of effort to make that thing fast would be enough to just start from scratch with a better base car. Now I work my ass off with no car so I could start over again properly. For the last 2 years I've been waiting to build a top-end machine for highway runs.

Oh, BTW? We had the same rims. My 98 had the same pony rims when I bought it, I loved them and kept them instead of getting new ones.

I'll probably be building a 302 either next year or after I graduate to drop into a project Z. My goals are... ambitious, to say the least.
